THE YACHT CHRONICLE Independent Yachting Journal

THE CHRONICLE / TRANSPARENCY

How we research.

Our editorial goal is to make the world of yachting more understandable through useful explanations, verified sources and clearly labelled interpretation. These pages are currently built through desk research. We do not claim to have visited a location, interviewed a captain or independently tested a yacht unless that work has actually happened.

Evidence hierarchy

We prioritise government notices and regulations, official marine and conservation bodies, first-party manufacturer documentation and established nautical safety organisations. Tourism websites and shipyards can describe their own areas or products, but they may have promotional incentives. When using their statistics, we identify the organisation making the claim.

What our comparisons mean

Tables labelled as editorial comparisons are our own arrangements of stated source information; they are not independent field surveys. Worked financial examples are explicitly hypothetical. A permit fee cannot be turned into a charter cost without knowing the vessel's actual legal status and booking contract. Manufacturer fuel figures are not directly comparable across different speeds or operating modes.

Publication status

The Journal currently contains editorial notebooks and proposals. Interviews have not been carried out and these pages are marked noindex until original reporting is ready. Destination guides and practical explainers identify source material and the latest research review dates. A review date means a source check, not that all travel regulations will remain unchanged afterwards.

Images and corrections

Photography currently reused from the original editorial concept is illustrative and should not be interpreted as photographic proof of a specific destination. Location-verified, rights-cleared photography will replace it as the publication grows.

We aim to correct factual errors transparently and to distinguish substantive revisions from cosmetic design changes. For applicable rules and vessel operations, readers should always consult current authorities and qualified local professionals.
